Selecting The Correct Bike Is Not Easy

Many people think that choosing a cycling bicycle is simple. They think that all they have to do is pick out which bicycle looks the prettiest to them and allows them to sit comfortably. This is wrong, the fact is there are more things to consider these days than there was a few years ago. Now that more and more people are starting to cycle, the options have risen to an almost head-spinning variety. Some people are choosing to cycle as a means of transportation on a regular basis. Lots of families have taken up cycling as a family hobby. Here is how you choose the right cycling bicycle for your needs.

We’d be lying if we tried to tell you that fashion shouldn’t play into your choice. The fact is that we all have color and style preferences. These are going to come into play when you are shopping for your bicycle. Looking good will be a great benefit of getting your new bike, but don’t let fashion choices be the guiding decisions factors. Safety and comfort should be considered first. After finding bikes that are both safe and comfy, then you can see which ones look the best to you. You shouldn't ever sit the seat at the lowest setting, which means sitting on the crossbar. Be sure to consider these few necessary inches between the seat and the crossbar, when you are out bicycle shopping. The added space between you and the crossbar, afforded by raising the seat slightly, will make a positive impact on your level of comfort. The goal here is to create a height with your seat so that when your pedal is at its lowest position your leg should be almost (but not quite) fully extended.

You also want to make sure you leave some room between you and the crossbar of your bike. When selecting a bike make sure you move the seat i loved this up slightly, to around a few inches above the height of the crossbar. Make sure you can place both feet on the ground if need be. Each type of bike will require differing clearance amounts. If you are buying a touring bike, for example, you only need an inch or so of clearance. For mountain bikes you will require somewhere around 3 inches.

Lots and lots of different features and options are out there as you look for a new bicycle. You have innumerable decisions to make as you choose how safe a bike to buy, as well as one that is pleasing to the eye. If you feel like you are being deluged by choices, you are perfectly normal. A little time spent looking into the choices will allow you to relax and buy the best bike for you.

Try to understand your choices before you go shopping. The peace it will offer during shopping makes it very worthwhile.
